Legislative Follow-up

Congratulations!  You've taken the first step as an advocate by visiting your legislators' offices in Washington.  Now the real work begins.  It's time to follow up with emails and phone calls while you track the progress of our requests.  Read our Advocacy Tips for more information on what to do now that you're back home.

Our Issues:

A. The Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Act has been introduced in the House (HR 1727) and the Senate (S 1183).

B. The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (H 3, S 5) has passed both the House and Senate.  It is now in conference committee and is incredibly close to a veto-proof vote in the Senate.

C. As we heard repeatedly from our Symposium speakers, the need for increased NIH funding for scientific research is critical and immediate.  Continue to express your concern for this issue as you follow up on your visits.
